TAYLOR SWIFT & JACK ANTONOFF: NO ‘BAD BLOOD’

Can the world’s biggest superstar just attend her friend’s party without a trail of drama following her?

When Taylor Swift released her most recent album, The Life of A Showgirl, fans and critics alike noticed that her frequent collaborator (and good friend), Jack Antonoff, was not listed in any capacity on the project. Subsequently, the rumor mill went into overdrive, speculating that Swift and Antonoff were no longer on good terms. Flash forward to Grammy weekend: Swift was seen mingling and enjoying her time at Antonoff’s after-party in LA, arguably putting the chatter to rest. Highlighted within Deux/U’s February 5th podcast episode, Swift made an under-the-radar appearance at her friend’s late-night party last Sunday, as confirmed through a variety of Deuxmoi’s reputable sources.

Fans had assumed that skipping Antonoff on her most recent album signaled tension, but that’s simply not the case, according to an exclusive Deuxmoi source. Antonoff had been tied up with other projects, and he allegedly understood that this record functioned more like a creative capsule for her. It was recorded largely in Sweden while she was on tour and moved at a much faster pace than the kind of slow, layered collaboration they usually share. This wasn’t their typical working rhythm and that was intentional.

There is zero doubt she’ll work with him again, according to our source, and given how constantly she records, it’s very possible she already has. Stepping away from one collaborator has never meant conflict for her; she previously paused work with Max and Shellback and later reunited with them when the timing and project aligned. The same logic applies here. From Antonoff's perspective, the break itself was not an issue.

Where things get a bit more complicated is perception. Taylor was well aware that leaving him entirely off the album would spark curiosity about the state of their relationship. According to a well-placed source, his camp allegedly would have appreciated some small public gesture to counter that narrative, whether a dinner sighting, a celebratory post tied to 1989 or Reputation (their first two albums together), or any visible nod signaling that all remained well. That acknowledgment never came. While this hasn’t created a rift, those around him do wish she’d offered something, even symbolically.

That said, this still doesn’t point to an actual problem. Her friendships tend to be cyclical, people drift out of the spotlight and later return without issue. Selena is a perfect example: they weren’t seen together for a long stretch, yet recent moments suggest they’re closer than ever. It’s often difficult to tell the difference between someone simply not being in the current rotation and someone who’s been fully phased out (unless it's Blake Lively).

The bottom line is simple: this was a pause, not a breakup.
