NICOLE KIDMAN & KEITH URBAN’S DIVORCE EXPLAINED
On the surface, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban had a blissful marriage. With over 19 years under their belts and two gorgeous teenage daughters, their romantic relationship appeared aspirational, if not cinematic. From acting to musical feats, both husband and wife are titans in their respective industries, but clearly something was lackluster in the relationship itself. Coupling Kidman’s recent divorce filing with Deuxmoi’s trusted intel, Urban was looking to fly his wings elsewhere–yet Kidman kept her vows intact like an iron vault.
As discussed on Deux/U’s October 2nd podcast episode and brought to Deuxmoi’s attention earlier this summer, Kidman applied for residency in Portugal in July. Sharing a stunning home with Urban in Lisbon, the writing may have been on the seemingly rocky wall. One of Deuxmoi’s trusted sources said that “Nicole has always believed that her marriage with Keith was for life–even if months went by without them seeing each other due to each other's work schedules.” Irrespective of “distractions elsewhere” (i.e. on-set or touring entanglements), Kidman saw their union as a forever type of commitment. The source added that “divorce was not an option” for the Academy Award winner. A separate source reiterated “she truly wanted this to last.”
But her estranged husband did not see eye to eye on their marriage’s longevity.
According to the same source, Deuxmoi received word that Urban felt “there's still plenty of time for them to live their lives.” Supposedly, his interest waned in Kidman and the marriage altogether. The source said that Urban believed you should not “waste it with someone you no longer feel excitement or passion for.” Given their hectic schedules and gaps in seeing each other, the source intimated that Urban wondered “why [he should] keep pretending forever is realistic.” Case closed: “it was time to move on,” according to this source.
Meanwhile, a source close to the family whispered that Kidman was blindsided by Urban’s “shady” motives. Allegedly, “[Kidman] took the girls on a trip with her sister [in July], and he moved out. He didn’t tell her he was getting a new place.” Despite “[agreeing] to work on things,” Urban had his sights set on a different, Keith-forward chapter.
If our math is correct, circa July 2025: Urban moves out + Kidman applies for her Portuguese residency = trouble in paradise.
And the Grammy winner was allegedly prone to a wandering eye. As TMZ reported, there have been rumors floating around of Urban already getting romantically involved with a new woman. Deuxmoi has heard conflicting information, with a Nashville-based source stating “there has not been a word of him being with a new woman.” However, a source spilled to Deuxmoi that allegedly “[Urban] 100% has a girlfriend. [Kidman] was trying to make [the marriage] work and found out recently.” The source said that the “messy” musician “has been out and about with her” – though their relationship’s origin is still TBD.
With nearly all signs pointing toward Urban having his cake and eating it too, an exclusive source informed Deuxmoi that “the rumors about Keith being involved with another lady have truth to them.” Additionally, the source divulged that “Nicole and [Keith] kind of just ended up spending a lot of time apart as they worked on different projects, and the love fizzled out as a result of the distance. Nicole apparently grew to enjoy being apart from him.” And as the cheating rumors heated up, "she lost all interest in him entirely. She does not play about loyalty.” With two grown children, “they are old enough now to divorce without it affecting the kids too much.”
As Kidman rebuilds her future, another source shared with Deuxmoi that Kidman’s primary fear of Urban’s true reasoning for parting ways stems from a “Dennis Quaid or George Clooney thing,” allowing Urban the opportunity to “start over at an older age, remarry, and then maybe even have more kids. The thought of that terribly upsets her.”
Spoiler alert: we predict a 100% chance of happiness for Kidman. As for Urban? He’ll be singing “Somebody Like You” into an arena’s abyss…
