The summer may have closed its sunny doors, but "The Summer I Turned Pretty" (and its steamy finale) is still living rent free in fans’ minds and hearts–particularly involving the cast’s relationship statuses. ICYMI, Chris Briney, sprinkling our algorithm as the beloved Conrad Fisher, has been dating long-time love Isabel Machado since their Pace University days. But what is a show’s cult-like following without the gossip mill churning into overdrive? Despite several joint red carpet appearances and Instagram features, fans have been convinced Briney is a single man. However, Deuxmoi has been told by an exclusive source that the couple are doing great.
If you take a quick peek on Machado’s Instagram, you will see that Briney has been a frequent face in his girlfriend’s life since her debut post in 2018. Fast forward over seven years later, and the couple’s world looks a bit different. After TSITP’s massive success, Briney grew a very dedicated fan base. And fans did not necessarily want to see Briney happily in love…with someone that was not Lola Tung, who played Isabel “Belly” Conklin in the series.
But Machado has remained center stage in Briney’s script.
Despite Machado being seen getting cozy with Briney at the US Open in early September, the breakup rumors were still rumoring about the couple. Since the actor’s girlfriend was MIA at TSITP press-related functions, fans suspected that Machado and Briney had quietly called it quits—yet that was far from the truth.
Just last week, an insider divulged to Deuxmoi that they are in “a loving relationship.” Although Briney posed solo on the red carpet for Chanel’s Bleu de Chanel event in New York City on September 26th, Deuxmoi can confirm that his leading lady was in attendance. Squashing the breakup beef further, another source assuredly reaffirmed to Deuxmoi that “with good authority” Briney and Machado “are very much together and happy.” In fact, this source recently spotted them together. Sweetening the love-y dove-y nature of these interactions, an additional insider gushed to Deuxmoi about how “he is such a nice guy,” alongside Briney’s allegiance to his girlfriend. “The way he talks about his girlfriend is how every woman would dream of having their man talk about them,” said the source.
But wait, there’s more…
Another source chimed in on Deuxmoi’s Instagram Q&A this week, spilling that Briney and Machado “foster kittens in NYC.” If that’s not enough confirmation (and cuteness overload), the source added they are “very sweet, kind, and down-to-earth people. And very much together.”
So there you have it, they’re doing purr-fectly fine.
