WHERE CELEBRITIES VINTAGE SHOP

Some of your favorite fashionable celebrities (and let’s be real, their stylists) are scouring secondhand racks rather than scouting fashion week runways in search of the very best looks to buy or borrow. To help you thrift top-notch threads like these famously stylish—and sustainable—stars, here’s Deuxmoi's roundup of the most shopped at vintage stores.

Los Angeles

Aralda Vintage: Deuxmoi received a sighting of Emma Roberts at this appointment-only vintage shopping haven that’s been the source of rare, red carpet-worthy swag for young Hollywood heavy-hitters like Kendall Jenner, Ariana Grande, Emily Ratajkowski, and Zendaya. Speaking of Z, her hit show “Euphoria” had Aralda Vintage fill up the closet of Minka Kelly’s character for the scene where Alexa Demie plays dress-up while babysitting.

Decades: With OG clients like Lisa Rinna and Max Greenfield, you might recognize this vintage boutique from the 2013 Bravo reality TV show about its owners called “Dukes of Melrose.” A decade later, the high-end store’s pre-loved haute couture and contemporary designer items are still in high demand: Addison Rae recently picked up a powder blue Chanel bodysuit, Bella Thorne was styled in its 90s Versace couture studded gown for a Golden Globes afterparty, and Vanessa Hudgens rocked a Chanel dress from here on the 2023 Oscars red carpet.

Mister Freedom: Clearly, Miley Cyrus can buy herself flowers and retro articles of clothing. She hauled away a bagful of previously-loved pieces from Mister Freedom HQ and talked shop with store founder Christophe Loiron, who has decades worth of old stories to tell about the celebrities who love the old clothes he stocks … like the time in the late 2000s when Ryan Gosling dropped in and picked out a denim peacoat he wore to promote “Blue Valentine.”

Reformation Vintage: Besties Olivia Rodrigo and Iris Apatow have both been spotted at this luxury store focused on sustainability. Fabrics from the past are reused and given a new life, so it’s basically sartorial “Deja Vu” that’s “Good 4 U” and the planet.

Wasteland: Deuxmoi can confirm that Paris Jackson, Dove Cameron, and rock band Måneskin have all grabbed some gently used—but still uber cool—gear from one of the three LA-area Wasteland locations (there’s also one up north in San Francisco).

The Way We Wore: Madonna for Harper's Bazaar. Kim Petras on the pages of Vogue Germany. Zendaya on the cover of Galore. And Lenny Kravitz walking the red carpet at this year’s Academy Governor’s Ball. Celebrity stylists are always sourcing unique looks from this vintage destination for photo shoots and exclusive events so their clients stand out. The store is currently moving locations and improving its online shopping experience, but pieces can still be pulled if you make an appointment.

What Goes Around Comes Around: With a location in Beverly Hills, CA and two in New York, NY—one on Wooster Street and the other in SoHo—celebrities love the pre-owned clothing and accessories from luxury labels that What Goes Around Comes Around carefully curates. Past customers include Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Hailey Bieber, Austin Butler, Victoria Beckham, Cardi B, Big Sean, and Bella Hadid.

New York City

Cure Thrift: Jeremy Allen White, Joe Jonas, and Sophie Turner are just a few famous faces spotted thrifting at this charitable secondhand boutique (proceeds go to juvenile diabetes research). This is also the nonprofit place where Busy Philipps sold her wedding veil during a post-divorce online garage sale and where “Bridgerton” actress Hannah New got something to wear for a Season 3 photo shoot.

Hamlet’s Vintage: Sarah Jessica Parker gave this “undiscovered Village treasure” a plug on Instagram after she stumbled upon the store and found “3 exquisite frocks” to purchase. Being the fashion-forward, unofficial New York tour guide she is, SJP told her millions of followers to “Put this divine shop on your list of uniquely NY things to do. And meet Hamlet the owner who hand picks every item.”

Le Grand Strip: Jessica Biel called Le Grand Strip “the most amazing vintage store in Brooklyn” when she shopped there during Fall 2024 New York Fashion Week and recommended, “Make sure to check them out, they were the sweetest.” Busy Philipps and SNL’s Heidi Gardner have also been known to wear looks from its collection.

The Vintage Twin: Known for its signature Jeanius Bar experience, The Vintage Twin’s denim experts are pros at picking perfect jeans for every individual shopper from its supply of thousands of pairs—and complimentary cropping and distressing is included with every purchase. Olivia Rodrigo, Gigi Hadid, and Bella Hadid have all worn jeans from here, while Cara Delevingne designed a custom leather jacket at one of its two NYC locations.

Nashville

Savant Vintage: In addition to vintage clothing, Savant Vintage stocks unique used furniture and home decor. Deuxmoi was told Dakota Johnson has browsed its inventory.

Vintage Paradise: It’s no wonder why Gen Z icons Olivia Rodrigo and Iris Apatow made a pit stop at Vintage Paradise when they were across the pond. The vintage retail boutique specializes in Y2K styles and prides itself on being part of the slow fashion movement.

Sydney

Real King Vintage: Being the repeat vintage retail queen she is, Zendaya popped up down under at Real King Vintage with her legendary stylist, Law Roach. The popular shop for one-of-a-kind finds from every era is nestled in Sydney’s trendy Newtown neighborhood.
